My DiY Sample Piece Rug Free

\"\"

So this will be a pretty short post, but I wanted to post it to see if anyone out there likes the rug I made from a bunch of sample carpet boards. And I made it for completely free! I had once again raided our local dumpster. Well our local flooring store dumpster I should say. I don’t just go around getting in and out of dumpsters. But with that said, I will admit that I am not a bit messed up about having someone jump in the dumpster that belongs to our local flooring store.

Because you can really get some good stuff for home improvements, or just for project making. And it’s all completely free! And you cannot beat free! Especially if you come away with something awesome! However I would recommend that anyone out there that may decide to go dumpster diving in their local communities, that you get permission from the owners.

And here is the 3rd rug I was able to make out of sample pieces we got for free

So after I got all of my sample boards out of the flooring dumpster I proceeded to take off all of the sample pieces of carpet. And there was a lot of pieces of carpet to take off! I ended up using the actual sample boards to put the carpet back on once I figured out how I wanted them to look. But you could use a lot of different things for you base. As long as it was pretty thin and a little bit stout. Even cardboard would work I would think.

Once you get your pieces arranged in the pattern or fashion you like you will just use a hot glue gun to secure them. And that is pretty much all there is to it. Very simple if you would like to try one of your own. I have enclosed some links below to purchase carpet pieces, for those of you who are not quite wanting to start the dumpster diving right now.
