Rooted In Truth

So for this project I went and got myself a trash can at the dollar store. It only cost like $6. So this project is actually super cheap to do. And super easy.

What all you will need:

1. Trash can

2. Water pump

3. Tubing

4. Small rocks

5. Hot glue gun

6. Multi tool

7. Fairy lights

8. Fake plants

Getting Started

So for this project I just started out with a normal everyday small trash can. I just used my multi tool to cut out the front of the trash can and the back of it. You will want to keep both of your cuts about the same size. So that when you look through it you will see all the way through without any obstacles in your way.

This theory of cutting out both sides I have done with my other project I just posted about called 4 Sided Water Display It is an awesome way to have a water display in your home because of being able to see through the display. You can sit it anywhere in your home and be able to see the water coming down.

After you get your holes cut out then you can start putting your little rocks on the outside of your trash can. I put all of mine on the entire outside by turning the trash can over on it\’s side and using a hot glue gun to put each rock on. It was definitely a process getting all of the rocks on the outside. It is very time consuming to get all of your rocks on there. But I really wanted that particular look. And so I went through the time it took to get all of the outside covered.

Then after you get your rocks on, you will want to start setting up your water display on the inside. I got some hoses that I had laying around the house, and attached them to my water pump I was going to use.

I chose a small water pump because I knew that it was not going to take a lot of power to push the water up to the top of my little trash can. And it worked out perfectly.

So I sat my water pump down in the bottom of my trash can and ran the hosing I was using, up to the roof of my display. Then I just secured my hoses to the roof with some zip ties.

You will want to make sure you plug up the end of your tubing. Then you will want to also drill your holes in the tubing. You want it to be left with your water coming down out of your tubing, like a waterfall. And by having the end of your tube clogged up so the water has no where to go, besides out through your drilled holes.

I had put my trash can lid back on mine and proceeded to run fairy lights all through the top of it. Using my hot glue gun to secure the fairy lights. They really made it look better, and they brightened things up so that you see down in there.

Oh and you will not want to forget to drill your hole in the side of your trash can for your water pump cord to go through. And so besides your fake plants along the bottom of your display, I think that is about it. And with your fake plants you can put them wherever you think that they look the best.

And how you arrange those will be depending on how many plants you want to use. And what type of plants you decide to use.
