So it was my belief that to form a monopoly was illegal in the United States. I guess once again I seem to be wrong 🤔.
In my hometown of Connersville, Indiana, we have one choice for our water. And we have one choice for our electric.
And what really gets me is this. The water company has even made it where if you have had your water turned off three times in a year period, you cannot get it turned back in your name. At least I know you can’t at the address you were living at.
Forcing many people to have to move just in order to ever get water again. Think about that for a moment. What if you owned your mobile home and was paying lot rent where it sits?
That means in order to ever have water again, you have to move your home, or sell it to someone else. I am in that exact scenario concerning the fact that I own my mobile home but it sits on a lot where I pay rent every month. And I know one thing. I would not be paying to have it moved!
It’s like $5,000 or possibly more depending on where you are moving it to. So basically if you don’t sell it pretty quick then you just have to live without water.
And selling quickly always means selling for less than what the real value of a place is. And what happens if the person has kids and it’s not feasible to go without water? Then you might be pushed into having to just leave your home and move in with family or move somewhere else that you might possibly have to pay rent for.
And how unfair is that? A person who owned their own place and didn’t have to pay much each month, is now put into a situation where they lost everything they had worked for to have to now possibly pay rent again.
And this is all because they had their water shut off 3 different times within a years time.
I mean every time they shut you off you have to pay a reconnect fee along with your entire bill you were behind. This is pretty hard to do for most people out there. If you were having problems with paying your past due bill, how much harder is it going to be to have to pay the past due amount, the current due amount, and the reconnect fee they are going to charge you?
Like I said it makes no sense to me. For one would think it wouldn’t even matter to a business. I mean they actually make more money when people get shut off right?
I don’t know. Seems like they just have a problem with the poor. And I don’t think that they must go by the Bible at all. For in the Bible it definitely states that you’re supposed to look after the widows, the fatherless and the poor.
Something this company is definitely not doing. So tell me your opinions on this in the comments. Just remember to be respectful. Other than that rule we welcome everyone’s opinion.
