I have decided to throw together some of the top shocking Bible verses that I have found that pertain to Jesus, or that came straight out of Jesus’s mouth. These are some of the verses that have completely changed my ways of thinking concerning religion. And I will go right into my first one to share with you. This is one of the very first verses that I discovered when first picking up the Bible and starting to read the book of Revelation. It is also what got me started more vigorously wanting to study the Bible and find out what the real meaning of it was.
Definition of Testify: to bear witness to; affirm as fact or truth; attest. to give or afford evidence of in any manner.
Definition of Revelation:
- a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way.
2. the divine or supernatural disclosure to humans of something relating to human existence or the world.
- (Rev 22:16) “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
The 2nd Commandment says thou shalt not worship images
2. (Matthew 10:34) “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Well, the above verse really makes me think that Jesus sounds an awful lot like the first and second horsemen of the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse. The first horse comes with a false religion. He is the false Christ. He comes in first because he causes the most suffering by bringing false religion. And then the second horse comes in with a sword and takes peace from the world. Sounds a lot like what Jesus just said concerning why he is here.
3. (Rev 14:10) The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosever receive the mark of his name. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.“
This verse I do not believe this could be more straightforward. It is basically letting everyone know that the people who will be burning in the presence of the holy angels and the lamb are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
4. (Matthew 7:22) “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.“
Now we have in Matthew what seems to be a confession from Jesus that he is basically not going to know you on that big day at the end when everyone is getting judged. Even after you have done all of these awesome events in his name. And he is still going to say that he does not know you!
5. (Luke 2:17) “And when they had seen “it“, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.”
The above verse here really made me take another look at the entire chapter of Luke. I was like my goodness this is supposed to be our God that they are speaking of? As they call him an “it”. And then all the while you have Mary the mother, over there pondering all of these things in her heart. Basically not letting others know how she was feeling concerning all of the matters concerning her newborn child.
6. (Luke 4:1-15) “And Jesus being full of the holy ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the spirit into the wilderness, 2 being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, if thou be the son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever, I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, if thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence:10 For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. 14 And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.”
I just find it a little bit strange that Jesus was led out into the wilderness by the holy ghost for one. And for two I would like to know why Jesus comes back and all of a sudden there is a fame that goes through the region concerning him. And how he is being glorified of all, all of a sudden? I also found it a little strange that they said that the devil was departing from him for a season. He didn’t say he departed from him and went on about his day to find some other poor sucker out there. Since he had such bad luck with this one. No that was not said. It said he was departing from him for a season. And I suppose that must have meant that there was going to be a season 2 coming?
(John 10:7) “Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.”
8. (Habakkuk 2:4) Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”
9. (Habakkuk 3:3) “God came from Teman and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. 4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.“
10. (Hosea 1:10) “Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, ye are the sons of the living God.“
So in the above verse it seems to be a very clear division of who the actual God is and that there is a completely seperate person who is known and referred to as the living God. Which is what I have been saying all along concerning the Lord of host.
