who is the lord of hosts

In this post, I will be sharing with you a bunch of Bible verses that have led me to believe that when the Bible speaks of the “Lord of hosts”, they are actually speaking of a whole different person than when speaking about the Lord. Since I started noticing these things in the Bible it has changed a lot of how I am interpreting the information that I read. It really does change a lot of things in it. If I am right that is. If you have never read any of my previous posts then I will give you an update on what I am all about.

I am very new to the Bible. I have only been studying the Bible for the last year or so. I started studying the Bible because of certain happenings in my life. If you would like to read more about that then check out my posts Mistaken All Our Lives.

I do not claim to know crap about crap really when it comes to the Bible. I know that there are many out there. They are way more knowledgeable when it comes to the content that is inside the Bible. What I share in my posts is what I believe I am being led to find. So now I am up here still searching for the truth that I believe is hidden somewhere inside the Bible. So I will learn something from others out there by sharing what I am finding. And uncover some of the truths that seem to be hidden in there. I guess we will see.

So I am not claiming to be anyone special at all. I am just trying to share what I feel like I am being led to share. So feel free to comment if you have anything that you would like to also share. I hope some of you out there may try out what I am introducing. It is in this post. Try reading the Bible with what I am proposing to you. The Lord of hosts is a separate character in the Bible from the Lord God. And then see what you think about how it changes your reading of the Bible. I believe it is so much less confusing.

When I was first starting to read the Bible I have to say I was so very confused. I mean the way they spoke back then is so different from how we speak these days. This difference makes it really hard to understand the Bible. Let alone how they are wording parts of it. You will find sections where the Lord refers to himself multiple times in one sentence. Confusing as Crap! Then I started noticing how “God’ seemed to be speaking of a whole separate person in many areas. I started looking it up online. To find out who the Lord of hosts was. And all that I got was that it was God when he was ready to do battle. That did not help at all.

Then I started reading the “Lost books of Adam and Eve”. And I started noticing how they kept referring to the Devil’s angels as his host. And I had heard over time something about a host of angels. And that thought kept on sticking in my head. To go a step further, I put the label of Lord of hosts to the Devil. In my opinion, it is not stretching it too far. He obviously would be the Lord to his host of angels. I mean I could be wrong about putting the label to the Devil. It be someone different. But it does seem to fit. Especially when you see how the LoH seems to be a hell of a lot meaner than the other character. As you read through some examples, you will see what I mean regarding the LoH.

But first I will share some definitions with you. That way, if there are words in the following topic you did not understand, I hope the definitions I am sharing will help. If you encounter any unfamiliar words, these definitions should help. They should shed a little light.

Definitions:
Host
store (a website or other data) on a server or other computer so that it can be accessed over the internet.
Host in Biology:
an animal or plant on or in which a parasite or commensal organism lives.
Heavenly Host: Refers to the army of angels mentioned both in the Hebrew and christian Bibles, as well as other Jewish and christian texts.
In Hebrew the name Sabaoth comes from the Hebrew word for “that which goes forth” and for “armies” or “hosts”.

To Smote Someone is to Kill them.

To Rebuke, Someone is to chastise them. Or to scold them.

Cherubim: One of the unearthly beings that are described as being winged and in biblical tradition as attending on God.

Baal: Ancient Deity. As a Semitic common noun, Baal meant “owner” or “Lord”. It could be used more generally. For example, a ball of wings was a winged creature. Baal was designated the universal God of fertility, and in that capacity his title was Prince, Lord of the Earth. He was also called the Lord of Rain and Dew. In Ugaritic and Hebrew, Baal’s epithet as the storm god was He Who Rides On The Clouds. Baal was also worshipped as a local God. The name Baal became anathema to the Israelites because Jezebel tried to introduce her Phoenician cult of Baal into Israel. This was in the 9th century BCE and was in opposition to the official worship of Yahweh (I Kings 18).

Lord of hosts the King of glory.

Ps 24:10 Who is he, this king of glory? The LORD of hosts-he is the King of glory.

Isaiah 6:3 And one cried to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Lord of hosts sits enthroned upon the cherubim.

Isaiah 37:16 O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.

Ps 99:1-4 The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he! The King in his might loves justice.

2 Samuel 6:2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-Judah to bring up from there the ark of god, which is called by the name of the lord of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim.

Samuel 4:4 So the people sent to Shiloh and brought from there the ark of the covenant of the lord of hosts, who is enthroned on the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of god.

Hebrews 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

Now I have added the above verse from Hebrews to show how the cherubims of glory that is overshadowing the mercyseat seems to go right along with what I have been saying about the Lord of Hosts. Always seems to be secrecy going on surrounding these things in the Bible. As you can see from the above verse where they state that they cannot now speak particularly.
